ResponderEliminarHaving only heard heavily romanticized performances before from the big hitters of the 50s through the 70s, I was startled at the difference in these performances. Rather than being concert waltzes that stagger around, without being able to focus on a single rhythm, these are true dance pieces. Stripped are the constant speeding up and slowing down to conjure up whatever effect the individual conductor is trying to achieve. What we have left here are true waltzes and polkas, where the downbeat is prime, the waltz is consistent, and J. Strauss II is truly able to become the "Waltz King" history says he is. Thank you so very much for a refreshing, and probably more authentic way of looking at these pieces than ever before in the modern recording age.
